Windows Win.ini question...

Question for general SoundDiver Windows configuration(s):

In WIN.INI, I noticed that all my MIDI outs have the logical '0' bit set
(=1) to enable MIDI out on that particular port, but in addition a couple of
others are set as shown below: (1rst and 2nd bits)

[Logic]
...
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_0__all=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_01=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_02=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_03=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_04=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_05=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_06=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_07=7
MidiOut_Unitor_Out_08=7

Example: normally should be 'MidiOut_Unitor_Out_01=1'.

Anyone (Michael?) know what is the significance of the first and second bits
also being set?

This is a new feature introduced in SoundDiver 3.0.1 and Logic Audio 4.6.1.

Here is a detailed info:

The number is a bit map. The bits have the following meanings:

Bit 0 (value 1) = port enabled
Bit 1 (value 2) = attempt to install SysEx buffers or transmit SysEx
has been started
Bit 2 (value 4) = installing SysEx buffer or transmitting SysEx was successful
Bit 3 (value 8) = error message "In the last session, Logic Audio
crashed or hung because the driver of XXX port YYY does not work
correctly. This driver has been disabled in WIN.INI..." has been
displayed.

So the possible values are:

0 = driver is always off
1 = driver is enabled, but no SysEx has been transmitted yet
3 = Logic crashed or hung when trying to open this driver or
transmitting SysEx on it (this value changes to 10 when starting
Logic the next time).
7 = driver is enabled, and SysEx has been transmitted successfully
10 = driver is disabled, and the above error message has been displayed.

I'm working on an adaption for my masterkeyboard. Therefore i want to link
an keyboard-object with a text-value-object. Where do i have to drag the
patchcord to link these objects ? I've tried dragging it on several objects
in the layout-window, but that doesn't seem to be the solution. So, how does
it work ???

By the way, it's an adaption for my Roland A-70 ...

Hello Rainer,

For the Keyboard Range I think you just drag the Lo patchcord to the
object which controls the lowest note allowed and the Hi to the
object controlling the Highest (I also set the Constant value to 0
for the latter when the default was 127).

I didn't use a keyboard object in my own Novation Super(Nova)
adaptations but for ranges I used Numeric Flip menu objects. Some
modules use Vertical sliders either side of the Keyboard object I
think.

As for Keyboard velocity I haven't experimented but if I haven't
answered your question I'm sure Michael will find time to expand upon
this issue.

Regards

The dragging must start in the Key/Velocity window object editor.
There you see four lines, key low, key high, velocity low and
velocity high. In each line, there is a box containing the text "(no
link)". Click-drag from this box to the text value object.

To see the created link, you should first name the text value object.
Note that in the current version, the object name is not visible as a
clickable object in the object editor if the name is empty. It is
positioned above the MESSAGE area. I will fix this ASAP.

Btw. if you need a note number object, you should not use a text
value object, but a numerical object. It has an option to display the
note number by text.

Then you should have a look at the existing A-90 Adaptation. Probably
the A-70 is very similar, and you can use the A-90 Adaptation as a
starting point.
