For some strange reason my XV module and adaptations dont exist any longer. I have reinstalled the program several times without any success. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know what you are doing wrong. My SD frequently loses all
of my setup info, sometimes because it cannot find the instruments
during startup, other times for no discernible reason.

One partial solution is to do frequent "save as"es (is this a word?)
of all preferences. The installed instruments can be saved along
with the patches.

Does somebody on this list know the name and location of the
automatically saved preferences file? Presumably, knowing this
would allow one to change the name and location of the "save as"ed
(a word?) preference file to replace the default file.

Do a search for the "Sounddiver preference" file on your system then
delete this file if you want to do a fresh setup preference file.

Also In sounddiver goto "Options/Settings/Midi interface
Communications/Communication" and deselect "Check Device Connections
at Startup" this will stop sounddiver trying to connect with your
synths at startup which usually locks sounddiver.

Then load your new preference file next time you open and all
connections & settings should be as you saved them.

You can then trawl through each synth as you need.

Regards
Richard

Thanks for the tip, Richard. I Hadn't checked the list for a few
days, so I just got your reply. Your tip works great and vastly
speeds up startup time. One of those eminently sensible solutions
that just make you slap your forehead and think "why didn't I try
this years ago?" Would have saved me lots of grief. Thanks.

Speaking of the XV-3080, does anyone have an XV-3080 Logic Environment
object they can send to me, please?

I rarely post here (it's been at least a year) but I am curious
about one thing. What do you (or anyone) want when you say you want
the environment for the XV-3080 or any instrument for that matter?
Is it the prest names or multi-midi channel assignments. I don't get
it. When I set up my instruments I go into environment, chose midi
instrument, give it an input and output port and channel. So whats
left? Not trying to be smatrt here - again I'm just curious. Thanks
in advance

Yep, typing in all the patch names for the various banks into the Logic multi-instrument environment object is what I'm trying to avoid.

It's so you can choose patches by their names, rather than bank/patch numbers.

Hello,

well to get the names of the patches is the simplest possible Env ..
the beauty of Env is to build or duplicate control panels, editors
knobs, midi ccs, midi sysex etc etc to reflect and contorl
your synths inside logic

go to

http://www.swiftkick.com/

http://www.swiftkick.com/loglugsynth.html

and check for example the AN1x env .. or the Matrix 1000 one

there is one for the 5080 too dont know if it will work with the
3080 !

ciao
andrea
